Nestled in a corner of Kyoto's keynote culture zone, the contemporary architecture of this museum shines alongside historical giants like Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art and Heian-jingu Shrine. This museum is home to works by Japanese painters such as Seiho Takeuchi, Bakusen Tsuchida and Kagaku Murakami as well as Western masters such as Matisse and Picasso, and many ceramic works by potters like Kanjiro Kawai. The museum also affords beautiful views of Kyoto from the fourth floor and the Sosui canal from the large windows on the stairs.
The museum is equipped with automatic doors, slopes and elevator with large mirror, etc., for smooth wheelchair access.
