The Museum of Kyoto

The Museum of Kyoto is a versatile cultural facility that strives to impart Kyoto history and culture in an easy-to-understand manner. The fourth floor stages varied exhibitions, while the second and third floors have general display rooms that are used to show excellent exhibits related to Kyoto in a multitude of different projects, and on the third floor there is a very comfortable film theater showing in succession the famous movies in the possession of Kyoto prefecture.
Besides all of these attractions, the museum has an important cultural asset in its annex building (former Kyoto branch of the Bank of Japan) in a contemporary Western design as well as a row of street shops that reproduce Kyo-machiya and street life for the enjoyment of visitors.
