"Ichi-go ichi-e", or once-in-a-lifetime encounter, is a saying with its origins in the tea ceremony, expressing the "spirit of tea" in that a guest at a tea ceremony should be treated as a one-off encounter and thus afforded the most cordial treatment possible. Chado, or the way of tea, is a culture that integrates many elements of Japanese thinking and art. At this gallery, the utensils used in the tea ceremony – bowls, vases, scrolls, etc. – and a tea room can be viewed. Also, there is a tea-lesson corner where visitors can enjoy learning the simple aspects of making tea (advanced booking required).
Access routes are wide and on even surfaces to enable easy access by wheelchair.
