Kajuji Temple

The mountain base of Yamashinaha Shingon Buddhism school. Kajuji Temple is built by Emperor Daigo in year 900 to mourn his biological mother Fujiwara no Inshi. It's founded by Buddhist Shoshun Ritsushi. It was burnt in a war in 1470 later reconstructed by shogun Tokugawa and the imperial family. It prides itself as the imperial lineage of imperial monks in generations. The Shinden Hall and the Shoin (important cultural property) was relocated from the palace of Empress Meisho. The national treasury embroidery “Shishu Shaka Nyorai seppo-zu” (now in Nara National Museum) was passed down in the temple is also called Kajujishucho. It has a “Chisenkaiyushiki Japanese garden” centering on “Himuro no Ike”. Zuishinin Temple

Established in year 991. With a sitting statue of Cintamanicakra,Amitabha (important cultural property), and kaikei Vajrasattva (same) put at its main hall. It is said to be the former residence of Ono no Komachi, with a fumizuka, Bunchojizo and a Kewaiido said to be made by the famous poet. Daigoji Temple

Daigoji Temple was built by Rigen Daishi (a scholar monk, also known as “Shobo”) as a hermitage at the peak of Mt. Daigo in year 874 to enshrine both the Jundei and Nyoirin Kannons (Avalokitesvara). The temple has a five-story pagoda (national treasure, the oldest architecture in Kyoto) and many other national treasure and important cultural assets, such as the Kondo main hall built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It is on as a World Heritage list since 1994. The long history of the temple is recounted by the huge of number of Buddhist statues and pictures at the air-conditioned Reihokan, which is also open to the public. Many of them are designated as national treasures and important cultural assets as well. Feel safe to visit as there are accessible for the disabilities.
